Hand grip application methods.

Heat lamp warming grips ready for fitting

hot air gun warming grips for application

lubrication of grip interior prior to fitting

compressed air being used to slide a sleeve into position

There are a variety of methods to install a grip. Speed, convenience and simplicity dictate the method of choice. In most cases the choices are:-

HEAT

LUBRICATION

AIR

ADHESIVES

HEAT

Exposure to any heat source reaching temperatures between 140'-180' F (60'-82'C)will soften the grip making it easier to install. Once cooled it maintains its original rigidity and secure fit.

Radiant Heat lamps provide a good method of heating grips on a conveyor or flat surface allowing the use of multiple operators.

Hot air guns can be similarly used for conveyors

Heat cabinets using recirculated hot air are good for batch work, but involve double handling of product.

Hot water is a favourite for many assembly lines, with product simply being emptied into a heated tank near the assembly point

An additional benefit is that the water acts a lubricant further aiding assembly with any residual water typically evaporates within 24 hours. The resulting grip will be tight and secure.

LUBRICATION

Soapy water and hair spray are two lubricants favoured by many customers.

AIR

Especially effective with long grips as illustrated, left

ADHESIVES

For some intensive applications an adhesive may prove desirable. Different substrates will require different adhesives. Please refer to your glue supplier for specific recommendations
